Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Tools

  • ½ sheet baking sheet or 2 large cookie sheets

  • bowl or stand mixer

  • pizza cutter

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 300 F, 150 C, 2 Gas Mark

  • Line an ½ sheet size baking pan with parchment paper.

  • In the bowl of your stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar

  • Add maple syrup, mix well

  • Combine the flour and baking soda, gradually add to the creamed mixture

  • Divide the dough into 6 or 8 portions, depending on the pan or pans.

  • Roll each portion into a log, about the width of the pan

  • Place 3 inches apart on the paper lined pans

  • Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned

  • While still warm, cut into 1 inch slices (I used a pizza cutter, but a dough blade might work also)

  • Remove to wire racks to cool

  • Dust with powdered sugar
